Monday of Holy Week - Mass in the Hungarian Chapel beneath St. Peter's.

The best time to visit St. Peter's is early in the morning. We arrived for private Mass at 7:00 AM. Fr. Daley vested for Mass upstairs in the main Sacristy (sorry for the blur). Note the statue of St. Stephan of Hungary standing on the steps. A wonderful and very rare moment - worth all it took to get there! The Papal Theatre where the Pope views movies - notice the screen? Group photo with Archbishop Foley after an inspiring vocational talk. The Archbishop is holding a nun puppet, our gift to him.

Tuesday of Holy Week
The Cupola and Vatican Museum • Papal Audience • St. Paul's Outside the Walls

The inside view of the great dome of St. Peter's. We're going to go up inside the dome to the Cupola. The view from the inside of the dome (the lower end of the dome). Inside the dome itself! It was not an easy walk. Looking northwest from the cupola at the Vatican Museums. The Sistine Chapel is in the lower right of the photo. Looking east from the cupola towards St. Peter's Square. The closest bridge in the distance is the Ponte Sant' Angelo. The furthest bridge is Ponte Umberto. The black squares below St. Peter's are chairs for Holy Week.

The largest Vatican Souvenir shop is located on the roof of St.Peter's. The buildings which house the Vatican Museums are museum pieces of the first order; photos can't capture the beauty we saw in person. The modern entrance/exit to the museums is also unique. Walking southeast along the Tiber (other side of the wall) to visit Cardinal Stafford Santa Maria in Trastevere (across the Tiber). Probably the first official Christian place of worship to be built in Rome. Founded in the 3rd Century.

Visiting with Cardinal Stafford. Sometimes it pays to hold your camera over your head His Holiness arriving for his weekly audience. The audience was held in St. Peter's Square due to the large Holy Week crowd. Reading his weekly statement. Another Pope-mobile
